Executive Chef

The Calgary Dream Centre is a faith-based recovery organization working to change the lives of those most vulnerable in the city of Calgary. Our holistic process of transformation helps individuals to escape the cycle of homelessness and addiction.
Joining the Calgary Dream Centre as the Executive Chef means becoming an important part of our team dedicated to providing support to vulnerable populations struggling with addiction. The Executive Chef requires strong management skills and the ability to establish professional food quality in all meals, events, banquets, and catering services.
Roles and Responsibilities are as follows but are not limited to:
▪ Safeguard all food preparation by employees by implementing training to increase staff knowledge about safety, sanitation and accident prevention principles
▪ Develop recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which assures consistently high quality food
▪ Evaluate food donations to assure that quality standards are consistently attained
▪ Manage food preparation for all event, sponsored meals, catering services, etc. as well as culinary classes
▪ Reduce food waste by developing menus and recipes that utilize the food donations being delivered
▪ Establish and maintain a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
▪ Schedule and coordinate the work of cooks, other kitchen employees, as well as volunteers to assure that food preparation is economical and technically correct and within budgeted cost goals
▪ Approve the requisition of products and other necessary food supplies and cleaning supplies
▪ Prepare necessary data for applicable parts of the budget; projects annual food, labor and other costs and monitor financial spending
▪ Create goals that portray strategy and growth for the kitchen department
▪ Establish relationships with food donors and the food bank to ensure we continue to receive quality food and this intake of food continues

Qualifications and Requirements:
▪ 3-5 years Executive Chef experience or 5+ years Sous Chef experience
▪ Red Seal Certification and Food Safe Certification
▪ Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced professional environment and ability to work well under pressure
▪ Ability to produce a high volume of food in a timely manner, which is of high quality
▪ Class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle

Community Case Manager

The Calgary Dream Centre is a faith-based recovery organization working to change the lives of those most vulnerable in the city of Calgary. Our holistic process of transformation helps individuals to escape the cycle of homelessness and addiction.

Joining the Calgary Dream Centre as a Community Case Manager means becoming an important part of our team dedicated to providing support to vulnerable populations struggling with addiction.

Roles and Responsibilities are as follows but are not limited to:

Provide comprehensive case management to all clients, including but not limited to assessment, individual case plans, referrals, housing assistance location, and advocacy
Develop client personal plans; meet with clients to monitor progress in employment, job training, assist clients with social services needs referring them to and collaboration with other organizations as appropriate; advocate with agencies for clients when need
Mentor clients and oversee clients’ progress and interventions
Monitor housing, provide support, advice and direction ensuring open communication
Maintain the environmental conditions of the property, including keeping high standards of health, safety and cleanliness for the clients
Report to Property Management on all maintenance needs as well as emergencies related to property
Track progress of clients and frequently analyze, assess and review objectives
Keep accurate and up to date case files, incorporating regular written case notes for clients, as well as relapse prevention plans relevant to all client cases
Attend all relevant meetings to position, i.e. weekly staff meetings, daily case management meetings, and other meetings on an as needed basis
Qualifications and Requirements:

Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or related social science
1-3 years experience working in the field of addiction and working with marginalized populations
Required to have a Driver’s License with 2 million liability on insurance
Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
Demonstrated skill in critical thinking
