On Thursday, October 10th, our annual Radiothon on 88.9 Shine FM was more than just a fundraising event—it was a powerful celebration of the incredible individuals that walk through our doors. As someone who doesn’t always get the opportunity to meet everyone that walks through our doors, I can confidently say this was my most cherished day of the year.
In July, I had the incredible privilege of recording over 15 personal recovery stories —each person came with individual journey’s that were all so different, yet shared a unique sentiment to the work that the CDC had on them when they walked through our doors. If you want to watch some of our amazing alumni, we filmed a few of their stories on our Instagram, check it out here: Instagram
There’s something special about hosting our Radiothon in the dining room—the true heart of CDC. As Shine FM played through the speakers, broadcasting the stories recorded, the space came alive with energy and purpose. The dining room isn’t just a large space; it’s where the power of community happens every day. Here, you’ll find individuals on day one of their recovery journey sitting alongside those completing their final days in our program, sharing meals and building relationships with their fellow brothers.
One of the day’s most touching moments came from our letter-writing table, where program clients wrote heartfelt messages to donors. All so heartfelt and genuine!
As the day progressed, the phones kept ringing with overwhelming support. Our staff shared beautiful moments with donors, offering prayers and gratitude for their commitment to our mission. The conversations were especially meaningful as donors heard directly from our entire CDC family—Alumni, Community Case Managers, Program Managers, Recovery Support Workers, Program Directors, and dedicated volunteers. These authentic connections allowed donors to witness firsthand how their contributions are being carefully stewarded and making a real difference in people’s lives.
Whether we’re hosting a Radiothon, serving meals in our kitchen, or supporting someone through their first day of recovery, our WHY remains the same: no one is beyond hope.
I’m overjoyed to share that because of YOU, we raised enough funds to provide over 20,500 meals for individuals in our recovery program. Each of these meals represents connection, restored hope, and an opportunity for a life transformation.
Thank you to everyone who listened, donated, shared stories of recovery, or kept us in your prayers!
