To our Community,
I would like to provide an update as we continue to modify our response to the rapidly-evolving landscape regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last few days, all levels of government have started to take aggressive measures to combat the spread of the virus. As the safety of our community is still our top priority, we too are implementing a stronger response.
As of March 18, 2020, we will be limiting the amount of people coming in and out of our building, ensure social distancing is practiced throughout all of our properties, and continue to enhance health and safety protocols. In order to do this, we have decided it is in our community’s best interest that we take extra precautions falling in line with the recommendations we have received from Alberta Health Services. These additional precautions include the following:
- We will limit traffic coming in and out of the Calgary Dream Centre. In order to do this, we have postponed our volunteer program and upcoming facility rentals until further notice. Our Lighthouse Mission Café will also be closed as of March 23, 2020. These decisions were not made lightly, but we trust they are in our community’s best interest as we work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- We will be ensuring all programs across our 49 properties follow recommendations regarding social distancing. This will include the programs within our building on MacLeod Trail, our Women’s Recovery program, and our Community Housing Program.
- We have made a consolidated effort to implement additional protocols throughout each program to ensure proper sanitation. This includes a number of enhancements to our kitchen and dining hall facilities, increased cleaning protocols, and the education of our staff and residents on vital hygiene practices.
- We have set up a quarantine strategy to ensure any individuals who have been exposed to the virus, showing symptoms of the virus, or have tested positive, can be isolated immediately to avoid further spread. Our staff and clients are aware of the protocols involving this, and they are prepared to take immediate action if necessary.

The safety and wellbeing of our clients, staff and greater community is crucial, and we are committed to doing our part to keep our community strong. We will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation and keep you up to date with our most recent protocols and safety measures.
Thank you again for your continued prayers and support as we face this turbulent situation. Like a braided rope, we are stronger together.
Sincerely,
Jim Moore, CEO / Executive Director
